What is CAP/APLEN?

The APLEN (Alberta Public Libraries Electronic Network ) project partnered with Industry Canada's CAP (Community Access Program) to help fulfill its vision of connecting all public libraries in Alberta electronically.  Between APLEN and CAP, 266 public libraries recieved funding to help with this goal.

CAP/APLEN , although scheduled to end as of March 31, 2004 the 2004 Federal Budget provided additional resources for targeted, though reduced, support of the program.

Youth Connections

Youth Connections is an initiative of Alberta Human Resources and Employment that began as a pilot project in Edmonton and Calgary in 1997.  The program is designed for young Albertans, age 13-24, who are unemployed or enderemployed, have left school early or have not continued on to post-secondary education.  The program is also for youth who are still in school requiring assistance with career preparation services.  Services include, but are not limited to, resume and cover letter writing, portfolio development, interview skills, career planning and investigation reports, and information on post-secondary institutions.  This is a free service provided to youth throughout Alberta
